WACC Advisory Committee

The Washington Campus Compact Advisory Committee (WACCAC) serves the Washington Campus Compact membership. It provides formative input, relevant information, guiding advice, and timely feedback to the WACC executive director and staff regarding strategic planning, program development, assessment and other related projects, events, and initiatives.

The 14-member committee enhances our professional networking and community engagement efforts throughout our diverse state and empowers us all to achieve our educational goals.

Most of the current advisory committee members have served since the committee's inception in fall 2005.

Roles and Responsibilities

Purpose

The purpose of the Washington Campus Compact Advisory Committee (WACCAC) is to serve the Washington Campus Compact (WACC) membership by providing formative input, relevant information, guiding advice, and timely feedback to the WACC executive director and staff regarding strategic planning, program development, assessment and other related projects, events, and initiatives.

Structure

The WACCAC shall be comprised of 14 representatives:

  • Four-year public universities (1 eastside, 1 westside). 2 total

  • Four-year private college or university (2 faith-based, 1 independent). 3 total

  • Research universities and branch campuses (1 eastside, 1 westside). 2 total

  • Two-year public community colleges (2 eastside, 2 westside). 4 total

  • Community organization (1 eastside, 1 westside). 2 total

  • Washington Campus Compact host institution. 1 total

WACCAC members should also represent:

  • Geographic regions (eastern, central, western, northern, and southern Washington)

  • Constituency groups: faculty (4), community service-learning staff (6), administrators (1), students (1), community partners (2)

  • Diversity: gender, age, experience, ethnicity, race, etc.

Advisory Committee Member Roles

WACCAC members shall:

  • Serve as advocates for the interests of the entire Washington Campus Compact membership and the organization.

  • Represent respective institution-type, cohort (faculty, service-learning staff, etc.), geographic area, and other applicable constituents.

  • Serve as liaisons with respective campus- and community-based colleagues—and
    colleagues from other campuses in their geographic region—regarding information,
    issues, and initiatives related to Washington Campus Compact.

Advisory Committee Member Responsibilities

WACCAC shall:

  • Prepare for, attend, and participate in two annual meetings (travel shall be the responsibility of respective advisory committee members).

  • Prepare for and participant in four, quarterly teleconferences per year.

  • Participate in disappearing task forces/sub-committees as time and interest allows.

Advisory Committee Time Commitment

WACCAC advisory committee members may anticipate devoting, on average, 2–4 hours per month for meeting/conferencing preparation and participation, and disappearing task force/small-committee work.

Term(s) of Service

  • WACCAC members shall serve two years.

  • Initial terms shall consist of one and two years.

  • Subsequent terms shall be two years.

  • Rotating terms will ensure continuity of WACCAC.

  • Members may serve no more than two consecutive terms.

  • All members are eligible to reapply to the committee after resting one term.

  • All advisory committee members serve on a voluntary basis without compensation.
