RODOLFO ARÉVALO
President, Eastern Washington University 

Dr. Rodolfo Arévalo became the 25th president of Eastern Washington University (EWU) on April 1, 2006, bringing to EWU more than 34 years of experience in higher education.

Dr. Arévalo is a first-generation minority college graduate, the first Latino president at any public four-year college or university in
Washington state, and a staunch advocate for improving higher education for minority and first-generation college students.

Dr. Arévalo has presented and published many works on topics of higher education, diversity, social work, and Hispanic and migrant issues. In addition, he has been involved with securing more than $8.8 million in grants and contracts for 12 projects. At UT-PA, Dr. Arévalo was involved in a collaborative effort for the development of a medical research center.

His vision for EWU includes ensuring educational access and success for students, improvement of existing educational programs, and the prioritization and creation of needed degree programs on the Cheney and Spokane campuses.
