MARK PALEK
President, Spokane Falls Community College

Dr. Mark Palek was appointed president of Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) after serving as acting president since July 2001. He joined SFCC as vice president of learning in June 2000.

Previously, he was employed at South Seattle Community College for 20 years, most recently as the associate dean of instruction for academic programs for six years. Before becoming an associate dean, Dr. Palek was an instructor in the Liberal Studies Division at the college. He taught developmental communication skills in the college's Learning Assistance Center as well as lecture classes.

While a faculty member, Dr. Palek served in these capacities:

  • Director of Faculty Development for four years, including administering a Title III Cooperative Arrangement grant: Improving Student Retention Through Faculty Development
  • Faculty development coordinator for two years
  • Learning specialist for six years
