Call for Proposals
Thank you for your interest in presenting at the 11th annual Continuums of Service conference, The Engagement Imperative: Academia, Students, and Communities in Partnership! We truly appreciate your contributions to the conference as session presenters, poster presenters, and active participants. Based on feedback we have received from participants as part of past conferences, one of our goals is to increase both the focus and rigor of presentations. We hope to foster increased focus and rigor through a new call for proposals process, which includes many changes from previous years’ proposal submissions. Proposal Review & Selection Criteria
Each proposal will be reviewed by at least two peers. We anticipate making final selections by Monday, December 17, 2007 and notifying each lead presenter of the results by Friday, December 21, 2007.
The following criteria will be used to evaluate each proposal:
- Relevance to 2008 conference theme
- Articulation of session participant objectives
- Articulation of initiative (e.g. course, project, program, partnership) objectives, outcomes, assessment, and dissemination
- Articulation of how you will present your initiative/model as one that other institutions can adopt
- Incorporation of diverse perspectives into your session, including incorporating co-presenters
- Quality of active learning segment
- Overall contribution to the service-learning/community engagement field
- Quality of written proposals (clarity, logic, organization, grammar, etc. of proposal)
Directions for Proposal Submission
- Review the conference theme and proposal selection criteria.
- Complete a Proposal Submission Form. If you would like to propose more than one session, please complete a separate Proposal Submission Form for each session. Incomplete forms will not be reviewed.
- Save your Proposal Submission Form as a word document using the lead presenter’s last name (e.g., Flint_Proposal.doc). If you are submitting more than one form, please number each (e.g., Flint_Proposal_1.doc, and Flint_Proposal_2.doc)
- Submit your form(s) electronically as a word attachment by clicking on the “Submit a Proposal” button. The deadline for submission is Friday, November 30, 2007 at 5:00pm (PST).
Registration Discount for Selected Presenters
We appreciate your interest and commitment to help build the body of knowledge in the service-learning/community engagement field by offering to present at the 2008 Continuums of Service Conference. As a token of our appreciation, selected presenters are eligible to receive a $40 discount on their registration fee if they register for the conference by January 31, 2008. Registration for presenters after that date will be charged at the standard rate.
