Concurrent Sessions by Key Educational Issue
The 2008 Continuums of Service Conference will focus on how service-learning and community engagement can address critical issues within higher education. Each lead presenter has been asked to identify one to three key educational issues that will be addressed by her/his session including:
- building an engaged campus or department;
- achieving and documenting student learning outcomes and/or student development outcomes;
- cultivating and sustaining campus-community partnerships;
- collaborating across disciplines and departments;
- building strong communities among students;
- increasing access, enrollment and retention of a diverse student body;
- building student leadership;
- recognizing engaged scholarship in tenure and promotion processes;
- collecting, assessing, and evaluating data;
- deepening the service-learning and community engagement body of knowledge through research;
- identifying the campus as a responsible environmental citizen;
- developing and fostering safe campus communities; and
- maintaining financial stability for the institution in light of decreasing public investments
