"Seeking Solutions to Complex Challenges Through Inquiry and Engagement"

Please join us for the 18th Annual Continuums of Service Conference, April 8-10, 2015 in the beautiful city of Long Beach, California – the most ethnically diverse large city in the United States! We are excited to be holding the Continuums of Service conference on the beautiful, unique, and historic Queen Mary Ship! The 2015 Annual Continuums of Service Conference brings together civic engagement and service-learning administrators, faculty, students, and community partners to focus on the critical processes of inquiry and engagement in shaping how higher education and communities identify and respond to the complexities of the 21st century. For example, we cannot find solutions to complicated issues such as poverty without also examining educational inequity, racism, and economic development. What role does or should higher education play in helping to recognize priorities, bring people together, and envision solutions?

As administrators, staff, faculty, and students in academia, we possess many skills for analyzing and identifying such complex challenges; however, we don’t always lead with the appropriate questions. Communities offer rich and diverse assets. Local, state, and national governments serve vital roles. Businesses and foundations are key partners. How can we assure that we are building effective infrastructure, making the right connections, asking the right questions, and including the right people in shaping solutions through student engagement?

Over the course of the three-day conference, participants will explore complex problems, identify essential partnerships, and develop student engagement strategies that move us toward positive change. We invite you to join in this essential inquiry and participate in the 18th Annual Continuums of Service Conference in Long Beach, California April 8-10, 2015!
