WACC Learn and Serve America Program
The Year Three 2008-09 New and Continuation Request for Proposal is now available! Colleges and universities in Washington and Idaho are encouraged to apply for this program. The Request for Proposal is due on Thursday, June 12, 2008.
Washington and Idaho
colleges and universities —in partnership with P–12, community leaders and
policy makers, all under the direction of Washington Campus Compact
(WACC)—will leverage local, state, and national resources to bring Learn
and Serve to each of the 11 congressional districts in these two states. more about this program
Retention Project
The Retention Project has released the 2008-09 Request For Proposal, and it is available for download here
The period of performance for this program is September 1 2008 - July 15, 2009. Letters of Interest should be submitted by April 16, 2008 to Linda Schnee, Program Director at Washington Campus Compact. Letters of Interest should include campus name, name of intended site supervisor on campus, number of AmeriCorps members requested, and a brief outline of how The Retention Project will be implemented on your campus. Full Proposals should follow, submitted by April 30, 2008, also to Linda Schnee. Please submit Letters of Interest and Proposals to linda.schnee@wwu.edu and direct all questions via email to linda.schnee@wwu.edu or via phone to 360-650-7263.
The Retention Project will utilize service-learning as a strategy to
improve the retention of first-generation college students and the
academic advancement of disadvantaged high school students. Washington
Campus Compact (WACC) will administer the Retention
Project in collaboration with Washington state colleges and
universities, high schools, community leaders, and policy makers. more about this program

Students in
Service is
a part-time AmeriCorps program that offers noncompetitive education
awards to students who participate in community service,
service-learning, unpaid service-related internships, service-based
student organization activities, and community service work-study jobs.

WACC VISTA Project
The WACC
VISTA Project will:
- Mobilize
college service-learners and volunteers to serve poverty-affected
students and community members.
- Develop
and sustain campus/community partnerships to serve poverty-affected
students and community members.
- Develop college
service-learning courses focused on poverty issues.
