Mid-Year Report Released
Washington Campus Compact asked the Learn & Serve Grantees to
report on some of their successes during the 2007-08 grant year.
The 11 sub-grantee campuses included in the 2007-2008 Learn & Serve
America (LSA) Mid-Year Progress Report are Boise State University, Cascadia
Community College, Clark College, Edmonds Community College, Everett Community College, Gonzaga University, Lewis-Clark State College, Seattle University, Spokane Falls Community College, The Evergreen State College, and Washington State University.

Overview
Colleges in Washington and Idaho--in partnership
with P-12, community leaders and policy makers,
all under the direction of Washington Campus
Compact (WACC)--will leverage local, state, and
national resources to bring Learn and Serve to
each of the 11 congressional districts in these
two states.
Learn and Serve America provides support to
schools, higher education institutions, and
community-based organizations that engage
students, their teachers, and others in
service-learning.
Program Impact
WACC has awarded eleven recipients funding from WACC’s Learn and Serve America Higher Education grant from the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS). They are:
- Boise State University
- Cascadia Community College
- Clark College
- Edmonds Community College
- Everett Community College
- Gonzaga University
- Lewis-Clark State College
- Olympic College
- Seattle University
- Spokane Falls Community College
- Washington State University
Boise State University, Edmonds Community College, Lewis-Clark State College, and Spokane Falls Community College will develop Congressional District Action Teams, in partnership with P-12, community leaders and policy makers; under the direction of WACC will leverage local, state and national resources to bring Learn and Serve to each of the 11 congressional districts in Washington and Idaho. Learn and Serve America provides support to schools, higher education institutions and community-based organizations that engage students, their teachers and others in service-learning.
Boise State University, Cascadia Community College, Clark College, Edmonds Community College, Everett Community College, Gonzaga University, Lewis-Clark State College, Olympic College, Seattle University, and Washington State University will use Promising Practices funding to improve school success of disadvantaged P-12 youth by growing and replicating existing tutoring, mentoring and service-learning projects. College service-learning students will work with disadvantaged youth to mitigate barriers to school success, improve college access, while developing their own practices of civic and academic engagement.
Finally, Learn and Serve America will institutionalize service-learning in 50% of the colleges in Washington and Idaho by improving and standardizing assessment and data collection practices; increasing the number of service-learning students, faculty and courses; increasing stakeholder support; strengthening P-20 partnerships and integrating service-learning into campus policies.
