What is the Washington/Oregon Campus Compact AmeriCorps Retention Project?
The Washington Campus Compact AmeriCorps Retention Project (RP) is a campus-based mentoring program that places AmeriCorps members at colleges and universities to implement exemplary mentoring initiatives. AmeriCorps Retention Project members recruit and train college student mentors to mentor disadvantaged K-12 youth and/or at-risk college students and veterans with the goal of improving their academic success and advancement.
Goals of the Retention Project:
- To connect college student mentors with disadvantaged K-12 youth and at-risk college students and veterans to help them improve their academic success and advancement
- To recruit volunteers for National Days of Service projects and other community service events
- To develop work force and civic skills of AmeriCorps members, mentors, and mentees.
